Important changes to the Proclamation Trust courses
It is our privilege to serve in the important task of training gospel workers — men and women engaged in Word ministry across a wide range of situations.
At the Proclamation Trust (PT) we are absolutely committed to the primacy of the local church in training.
Cornhill is currently structured as follows:
- Step 1: F1 – 1 day a week for 1 year
- Step 2: F2 – 1 day a week for 1 year
- Step 3: Core – 2 days a week for 1 year or 1 day a week for 2 years
- Step 4: Plus – 1 day a week for 4 years or 2 days a week for 2 years
We want people pursuing vocational ministry to do Core. This is the heart of Cornhill.
The current structure of F1 > F2 > Core takes a minimum of 3 years to complete.
A key expression of our commitment to serve the local church is to match our courses to align with intern (or equivalent) programmes in local churches, which run for 1 or 2 years. Currently, there is a mismatch. We are finding that people who both want to, and would benefit from, Core training, cannot do so. Because of this, going forward we are restructuring to offer three courses as follows.
PT Cornhill Training Course
- 2 days a week for 2 years, typically in partnership with a local church intern (or equivalent) programme.
- What is currently F1 and F2, will now be in year 1.
- What is currently Core, will now be year 2.
Some local church programmes do a significant amount of training in-house and may want to send people to Cornhill for just 1 day a week. We want to accommodate this and will work out with the training church what the best 1 day a week option would be.
For people further on in ministry experience, Cornhill has proved over the years to be the right training option. Reinstituting the Cornhill Training Course as described will make this training more accessible for these people.
PT Ministry Training Course
While we are committed to partnering with churches training people for set-apart or vocational ministry, we want to serve local churches in offering training in Word ministry to a much wider group. The more people are equipped for Word ministry, the better the church.
What will this look like?
- 1 day a week for 2 years.
- What is currently F1, will be year 1.
- What is currently F2, will be year 2.
For some people, taking the Ministry Training Course will prove to be a first step to further training, possibly for vocational ministry. We are very keen to accommodate this. Those who have completed the Ministry Training Course will be able to go on to the second year of the Cornhill Training Course (formerly Core) either 1 or 2 days a week.
PT Cornhill Plus
There are no changes to Cornhill Plus, our seminary-level course.
Key message is flexibility
The key message in all of the above, both for current Cornhill students and future students, is flexibility. We want people to access the training they need and will do all we can to make that happen.
Commitment to serving the local church
Our commitment is to serving the local church. Please tell us how we can do this better and help us navigate this time of transition.

Please email enquiries@proctrust.org.uk if you have any questions (emails below). The PT website has more detail on the new courses, including a section on FAQs. If you’d prefer to discuss the changes in person, we’d love to welcome you to one of our upcoming Open Mornings on 31st March, 28th April, or 2nd June.
